the Colombian Association of sick liver and kidney complaint that poor preparation of the personnel of the EPS to the reforms of the health sector has endangered the life of transplanted patients.
Bogota, April 2012.- at least 60 patients are at risk of losing his transplant because the EPS not them are providing care and medicines, said the Colombian Association of sick liver and kidney (ACEHR).
According to the Association, lack of access is generated following the crisis of health and ignorance in the EPS of reforms in the sector, which has impacted on a systematic violation of the rights of patients.
Paradoxically, one of the main causes has been the process of grant equal rights of the contributory to the patients of the subsidized regime which began with the population aged 1 to 18 and 60 onwards.
Although no doubt that this is a benefit, has finished become a problem ”, says Sister Mary Agnes Delgado, Director Executive of ACEHR. for the patients of the subsidized scheme, matching supposed to care of them should move from the financial Fund of the Ministry of health to the EPSS (institutions of the regime) (subsidized). However, patients have been unattended because there was a junction. There is much ignorance and this has affected patients because have interrupted them their treatment arguing that the EPSS have no agreement with the institutions that were providing the service, among many other excuses ”.
With regard to the patients of the contributory scheme, the crisis is related to non-payment of the EPS to the IPS. With the argument of the cancellation of agreements, patients have not been entitled to continuity in the care and treatment ”, adds sister Delgado.
According to the Director of the Association, the life of these patients are at risk, because they require specialized attention and constant drug treatment and without arbitrary changes in order to avoid that the body will reject the transplanted organ.
