what SESPAS?

Spain, April 2012.-
the
Spanish society of public health and health administration (SESPAS) , founded in 1987, is a Federation of eleven scientific societies grouped to 3,800 members. Its mission is to contribute to improving the health and health care of the Spanish population. It therefore has a clear vocation of social and health, action articulated in several dimensions:

– through the promotion of scientific knowledge and the professional development of public health.

– through the creation of forums for meetings and exchanges between the different areas and perspectives that make up modern health publishes.

– through advocacy for social and health problems towards vulnerable groups who accumulate social and health disadvantage, both problems and particularly significant health risks.

SESPAS is based on a broad and inclusive definition of the public health, and this is one of their distinctive signs as an organization; Indeed, public health and health administration are understood in a broader context of disciplines, and from a perspective of collaboration and integration of inputs from each one of them to advance the main problems and challenges posed by the health of our society and our fellow citizens. And we also advocate a public health dimension global or planetary, full solidarity with other peoples of the Earth, and aware that the problems of public health do not stop nor respect political or geographical borders between countries or continents.
