Alliance Boots and the EORTC Charity Foundation are collaborating in the research against cancer at European level
Barcelona, April 2012.- Alliance Boots and the European Charity Foundation for the research and treatment of cancer (European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer – EORTC in its acronym in English) have begun to work in the fight against colorectal cancer. The initiative is based on the agreement signed last June between the two entities and which aims to get a donation of EUR 5 million in the next five years, which will be used for the creation of a BioBank ” for colorectal cancer andthen, a platform for blood samples to obtain genetic profiles.
In connection with the announcement of the partnership the year past, Alliance Boots and EORTC have completed phase, operational, legal and financial and the awareness of employees and other partners. All teams of Alliance Boots are actively participating in fund-raising through national and local initiatives such as raffles and solidarity sales of products. The different areas of business have also launched plans for major events, some of them involving manufacturers and suppliers, as for example a party 36 hours non-stop football and a ride bike in United Kingdom.
In addition, to start the implementation of the project, Alliance Boots conducted a joint with EORTC press conference in Brussels, in the presence of her Royal Highness Princess Astrid (Honorary President of the Charity Foundation EORTC).
