PK Dutch wins prize InterSystems Breakthrough Application for your mobile application to measure emergency response in real-time.
Madrid, may 2012.- InterSystems Corporation, a world leader in software for connected healthcare, has announced that PK, sita in the Netherlands and Application Partner of InterSystems software firm, has been recognized with the award InterSystems Breakthrough Application. for its mobile application CU – BOX ®, to measure the response of emergency real-time services.
CU – BOX ® uses the InterSystems cache ® high-performance database system and the rapid integration and InterSystems Ensemble ® development platform to offer critical and objective information on the quality of the provision of emergency medical assistance. The solution includes mobile applications that determine a schedule of the emergency response by storing key timestamps, such as the emergency vehicle departure time and the time of arrival to the town of the patient and the hospital. CU-BOX also includes a geographical information system (GIS) and an automated, Google Maps and OpenStreetMap-based tracking system. Information on location of the vehicle in emergency, the current vehicle status, if you are available immediately or it is coming to the location of the patient, for example, is transmitted in real time to destination hospital emergency department.
“Reliability, high performance and support for rapid application development
“”We are facing two major technical challenges in the development of the CU-BOX solution”, says Jack Paas, founder and President of PK. “The first was the requirement of creating a network of mobile communications high reliability and security, which also provide speed and power for interaction, in real time, between emergency vehicles and the emergency room of the hospital.” “The challenge of capturing and integrating the data necessary to verify the quality of the logistics process during an emergency call was equally important.”
PK developers selected cache as the database for the flow of data between emergencies and emergency vehicles. “Cache offers the high performance and reliability are essential to provide information in real time,” explains Paas. InterSystems Ensemble has been used to develop the integration processes that support the flow of data and accurate measurements in real time, and the reports of emergency response processes. “The combined capabilities of cache, Ensemble and other InterSystems technologies have made possible the development of a mobile solution for emergency scenarios unique to a new niche market”, adds Paas. “In addition, InterSystems technologies support a very rapid application development, a vital capacity to respond successfully to the constant organizational, legislative and technological changes in the unstable environment of health care.” “CU-BOX is a true innovation in the demonstration and the improvement of the quality of medical assistance in situations of emergency response providers”, Paas continues.
The expansion of the market development
CU-BOX was initially developed for health care providers could offer accurate data about the response to emergency calls to the Dutch Health Care Inspectorate (IGZ) of the Netherlands Agency that promotes health through improvements of quality of services of health, preventive measures and medical products. The development of the product began as a concept of test in the second quarter of 2011 and ended at the end of the year. The pilot is currently used in several ambulances and will be available in the departments of emergency, police and firefighters in the Netherlands.
Plans are to develop a local clientele and connect with the Dutch 911 emergency response network, so that the location of the country emergency vehicles is visible through CU-BOX. “Once reached those goals, seek partners in the sector of health care of emergencies to commercialize and distribute effective solution CU-BOX in Europe”, says Paas.
“CU-BOX solution clearly illustrates the innovations that have been made possible by the merger of new mobile platforms with databases, integration and InterSystems web technologies,” said Paul Grabscheid, Vice President of strategic planning of InterSystems. “It is a pleasure to highlight the significant achievement of PK in the measurement of response of emergency with prize InterSystems Breakthrough Application services.”
“We are thrilled and honored to be recognized with this award,” concludes Paas.
