Mark social purposes and help five and a half million people without it costing you anything

Madrid, June of 2012. Thanks to the solidarity of the contributing people who marked social purposes, the NGO Social Action every year, through grants from the personal income tax, serve almost five million and half of vulnerable people in our society of different groups such as older persons, persons with disabilities, the collective childhood and the familyyoung people and women, among many others.

From the year 1989, citizens and citizens when they make their tax return, you can freely choose the destiny of a small part of their taxes, namely 0.7 per cent and allocate social purposes, the Catholic Church, both of these options, or to none of them. The money that is collected with the box social purposes is distributed annually follows, 78% goes to Social action NGOs through the public call for grants, coordinated by the Ministry of health, social services and equality, 19% is intended for cooperation projects to the development which are managed by the AECID, and 3% is allocated to environmental projects.

As for the rest of the options facing the person contributing when he makes his statement of income it is important to note that, if the person taxpayer chooses the option to mark the two check boxes provides 0.7 per cent to social purposes and 0.7% to the Catholic Church. On the other hand, if blank sections 105 and 106 of its statement of income, i.e. does not point to the box social purposes or of the Church, is the State who assumes this amount investing it in the purposes that it deems most appropriate.

More than 19 million taxpayers who exist in our country, in the last examination session, 52% marked the box social purposes exclusively or in conjunction with the Catholic Church but still 28% that the checkbox of the Church exclusively and 20% that does not mark any of the two boxes.

People that only mark the X for the Catholic Church must know that if they also mark the box social purposes will be favoring the action of more than 40 organizations of the Church (Caritas, San Juan de Dios …) who develop programs of social action for the most vulnerable people in our society.

In this way, thanks to the contributions of people who marked the late social box on your tax return, option that did not involve them any cost, since they did not have to pay more or les returned less, they were launched a total of 1,082 social action programsdeveloped by 410 entities for social action.
