The community teaches public transport users to detect symptoms of stroke

Madrid, January of 2013- La Comunidad de Madrid will teach the users of public transport to recognize symptoms that produces stroke to act quickly and thus reduce the after-effects of this disease in patients and even his mortality. For this purpose, the Ministry of health and the Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid (CRTM) have signed an agreement to disseminate information related to early detection of stroke in the network of transportation.

this measure is part of the Plan of the Ictus of the community of Madrid. The Plan has among its objectives to promote early detection of this disease, in order to provide health care as soon as possible and minimize its impact on mortality and sequels.

as explained by transport counselor and President of the CRTM, Pablo Cavero, this agreement will allow the projection of videos explaining in audiovisual channels of heat exchangersMetro and buses Intercity, as well as posters in subway stations and vehicles, heat exchangers, light meters, EMT, commuter and Intercity buses, which health experts clarify how to detect the ailment and how to intervene in such cases.

the Ministry of health currently has six units of Ictus hospital, located in La Paz hospitals, Ramon and Cajal, La Princesa, Clínico San Carlos, Gregorio Marañón and 12 October. These units are equipped with professional equipment and technology specific to the treatment of this pathology.
