GranadaFebruary. 2013- the team of researchers led by the Prof. Dr. Gerardo Gómez Moreno of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Granada has received the prize Paul Galvez Pruñonosa research: evaluation of the effectiveness of a topical sialogogo spray with Malic acid 1% (Xeros DENTAID spray) in the elderly with xerostomia: A randomized double-blind clinical trial ”.
This award is a recognition of the Royal Academy of medicine and surgery of Eastern Andalusia, directed to dentists, stomatologists and graduates in medicine.
The award took place in the Hall of acts of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Eastern Andalusia, during the solemn opening session of the year 2013. A century-old institution based in Granada they belong University professors and professionals in medicine and other health sciences not only of Granada but the provinces in their immediate surroundings: Almeria, Jaen, Malaga and Melilla. what is xerostomia?
Xerostomia is a disorder also known as ‘ dry mouth ’. It currently affects 40% of the older population aged 55 and 60 people you can reach 90% in hospitalized patients.
