New technologies allow to combine efforts of more than 100 professionals in a session for the comprehensive care of breast cancer.

Spain, March of 2013.- the Hospital of Torrevieja and the Vinalopó address jointly a comprehensive care program of cancer of the breast through a simultaneous session. For the first time, and thanks to new technologies, more than one hundred professionals has brought together to discuss the management of the processes involved in the treatment of cancer.

A videoconference software has made possible the connection between the Hospital of Torrevieja, Vinalopó (Elche) and Riverside health (Valencia) in a meeting which was attended by professionals from different specialties, with the common goal of finding an accurate diagnosis and subsequent treatment that promotes the healing of the patient.

Control of mammary pathology encompasses the prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care. Thus, the departments of Torrevieja and the Vinalopó this disease tracking addresses from a multidisciplinary perspective that involved more than twenty professionals of various services such as oncologists, radiologists, surgeons, radiation therapists, doctors, family, physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, nursing, etc; Thanks to a systematic work that allows a comprehensive follow-up of the patients. All of them have participated in the training session providing each specialty optics.

The process management is a tool that aims to integrate the different levels and components involved in health care, favoring the ordination of workflows, integrating knowledge and taking into account the obtaining of pre-established results, whereas the patient as central element, his family and the surrounding socio-labour, and trying to reduce the variability of the actions in health up to a maximum level of homogeneity.

this idea so innovative health care applied by the departments of health of Torrevieja and the Vinalopó is every day more necessary in the hospital setting, when it comes of working environments with an important medical and technological structure favorable for its implementation underway.

Thus, Integrator of breast cancer treatment allows you to obtain the highest possible efficiency and improve, if possible, high levels of quality of care offered to patients of both centers.

With the intention of integrating this vision within the multihospital model have been developed various processes of comprehensive care for Cancer patients. Therefore, more than one hundred professionals, especially doctors of primary and specialized care, have participated in this event which has allowed to show what is this comprehensive care process, as well as delve into multiple stages in which passes a patient with breast cancer from different points of view.

Overcome breast cancer

With an incidence of 1 in 10 women, the survival of this cancer is very high, more than 90% of women exceed it a year and 85% at five years, thanks to early detection programs and implementing progressive new therapies and technical diagnostic. In addition, a large percentage of lesions are benign.

The chance of cure of breast cancers detected at the initial stage (in situ) are virtually 100%. It has been demonstrated that, thanks to the realization of early diagnosis of breast cancer campaigns, mortality from this disease has decreased significantly, at least when done in the age of higher incidence (above 50 years).
