Valencia, October 2009.- The Valencian society of contraception and reproductive health, which is part of the Spanish society of contraception (SEC) was the fifth edition of their scientific meetings. The SVCSR chaired by Dr. Xavier Rius Jordá, developed an intensive technical program which was followed by about 150 medical professionals, gynaecologists, doctors in primary health care and nursing. Meetings on Thursday, 22 and Friday, October 23 were developed in the halls of the Hotel Meliá, from Valencia.
Celebrate 10 years since that we decided to the Organization of the Conference and have been a few special dates for delivery of the first prize of the society, award Dr. Eduardo Diez, endorsed by the Ministry of health, represented by the Directorate-General of public health has become. The session opened Thursday 22nd, at five in the afternoon, with an opening ceremony presided over by Manuel Escolano Puig, Director-General of public health of the community of Valencia, who was accompanied by Dr. Xavier Rius Jordá, President of the SVC, Dr. Ezequiel Pérez, President of the Spanish Foundation of contraceptionDRA. Esther’s widow, President of the Spanish society for contraception and Dr. Jorge Perpiñá.
Following the presentations of the Conference Award was given to the best paper presented at the V Jornadas of the SVC that was delivered by Dr. Ezequiel Pérez Campos to Dr. Josep LluÃs Carbonell Esteve. The recognition was the work entitled: Toxic Shock by clostriduim Sordellii associated with abortion with mifepristone misoprostol. Current state of the art, whose authors are J.L. Carbonell Esteve, J.M. Juan MarÃ, M.G. Llorente Pérez, e. Sánchez, i. Salvador Vila, S. Guillem and a. Candel Suris.
I award Dr. Eduardo Diez
Following proceeded to deliver, by Manuel Escolano Puig, I Prize Eduardo Diez, given to the Hospital General Universitario de Valencia by the Valencian society of contraception and the direction of health public of the Ministry of health of the Valencian Community. He collected the distinction Dr. José MarÃa Iranzo Miguélez, Deputy Manager of the Hospital.
The prize is awarded to the best work or scientific, teaching and welfare work carried out by the centres of Valencian Comunitat reproductive and Sexual health. This year was the first edition, starting point for future conferences. Both the Valencian society of contraception and reproductive health, and the Ministry of health agreed that it should be granted to the first Center of Sexual and reproductive health, which began its welfare work in the region of Valencia, so it was awarded to Hospital General Universitario.
Dr. Eduardo Diez, gynecologist of the Hospital La Fe, now deceased, which gives its name to the award, was the first President of the Valencian society, pioneer in the care of family planning and point of reference scientific healthcare practitioners of the specialty. Man of great professional prestige and reference of human values.
After the two awards began the Conference with a table dedicated to adolescence with immaculate Parra Ribes, as moderator. In the course of this table were discussed the following matters: psychological aspects (perception of risks and attitudes), sexuality in adolescents, contraceptive guidance, sexually transmitted infections in adolescents and legal aspects of care for adolescents). The first day was completed with a satellite symposium, Exelgyn Laboratories, which will be about advances in pharmacological abortion.
Tables on reproduction and HPV
On Friday 23 began with a Panel on reproduction moderated by Alberto Romeu Sarrió, which disaggregate issues such as tackling the couple sterile in the sexual and reproductive health, genetic counseling and preimplantation genetic diagnosis and legal aspects in assisted reproduction centres.
GSK also offered a satellite symposium about: Cervarix, the only vaccine specifically designed. The third table of the days began at 1145 and dealt with genital human papilloma virus (HPV) infection, with Dr. Jorge Perpiñá Cano as moderator. It will discuss myths and realities, HPV in men, as well as vaccination and screening. Morning activity was completed with a satellite symposium of Sanofi Pasteur MSD.
Other medical contraceptive uses
The V Jornadas of the SVCSR culminated with the afternoon session in which was discussed, in the fourth table of the programme, on other medical uses of contraceptives, with the DRA. Pilar Jiménez Ibáñez as moderator. Disagree Dr. Ezequiel Pérez fields on PMS, DRA. MarÃa Ãngeles Gómez, on disorders of cycle and Dr. Antonio Cano on hormonal contraceptives in the climacteric. The activities ended with the closing ceremony, after which the Assembly of the Valencian society of contraception and reproductive health were developed.
