London, 6 sep (EFE).-A Guarani in Brazil tribe has demanded that the oil company Shell to stop using their land for the production of ethanol, it was reported today in a statement the Organization advocate for indigenous Survival International.
“Shell should leave our land, the company should stop using indigenous land. “We want justice, we want our land to be stroked and protected for us,” said Survival Ambrose Vihalva, a guaranà of the affected community.
According to the note of the Organization, Shell has joined the Brazilian company of ethanol thing in a joint venture called Raizen.
Part of Raizen, sold as a biofuel, ethanol is produced from sugarcane from the land of the Guarani.
In a letter sent to these companies, the tribe warns that, “since the factory began operations, our health has deteriorated, children, adults and animals”.
Apparently, the chemicals used in sugar cane plantations seem to cause diarrhea to Guarani children.
“We can no longer find many medicines which used to grow in the forest, the plants have been killed by the poison,” added the Guarani, claiming that they were never asked permission to use their land. EFE
