Brussels, 15 sep (EFE).-the European Union (EU) said today that it will lift the ban imposed on the leguminous vegetables from Egypt because of the crisis of the outbreak of the bacteria e. coli occurred in Germany and France in June, but not which weighs on the outbreaks sprouts.

Imports of this type of Egyptian vegetables, as well as some kinds of seeds, are prohibited in the EU from the beginning of July after the European competent authorities establish a link between seeds of fenugreek or fenugreek (“Trigonella foenum-graecum”) from that country and the outbreak of e. coli, which left half a hundred dead.
The Commission decided to propose today, at a meeting of the Committee on the food – chain consisting of experts from the Member States and the EC – the withdrawal of the Egyptian from the list of products fresh legumes prohibited.
The measure, backed by the Member States, also introduces some clarifications on the measures that affect the seeds of mustard, said the Commission.
Decisions on imports of the above-mentioned Egyptian products shall remain in force until 31 of October, moment in which will be reviewed, he concluded. EFE
