Madrid, October of 2011- the continuing education of pharmacists is an unquestionable need, both for the health system and the professionals. The objective is to reach out to professional excellence and improve the attention to the population.

Pharmaceutical care responds first and foremost, to a significant social need, which contributes to improving the quality of life of citizens, through a close and documented communication between the pharmacist and patient. Preventive measures and compliance with treatment can prevent many complications and even death. Pharmacists can contribute to the prevention and better control of diseases.

Particularly vulnerable is the elderly patient, which presents a high incidence and prevalence of diseases such as hypertension or diabetes. The elderly patient also has a higher incidence of poor compliance.

Commitment to training

ratiopharm considers the pharmacist a key health worker in the development of the generic market and its role of advice to the patient. For this reason, has been established with a line of stable and lasting work that began in the year 1998, collaborating with the Universidad de Granada in meetings on care pharmaceuticals, which was attended by more than 1,500 pharmacists of all Spain.

Due to the high demand for training in pharmaceutical care in 2003 began an ambitious project in collaboration with the prestigious Foundation Pharmaceutical Care ”, pioneer in the dissemination and training of pharmaceutical care in Spain. In its first edition dealt with pharmaceutical care in heart disease and has subsequently been the following courses: pharmaceutical care in asthma and COPD, pharmaceutical care in women’s health and pharmaceutical care in elderly cognitive deterioration.
