ACEDIGA (Galician Association of day centres) organizes its first Congress by mid-November in Santiago de Compostela.

the motto of the Congress promotion of autonomy ” symbolizes the coordinated work of the various professionals who work every day to achieve this end.

Pontevedra, October of 2011- the initiative to hold this Congress (I) by the Association has among other many objectives, recognize, promote and raise the model of day centre as a resource for care public health in the Galician community, foster the participation of the Association in the structures regional and municipal health care and to publicize the work of great professionals that they participate in this day to day business model

Being as it is one of the priority objectives of ACEDIGA continuous improvement of the services provided to its users, get underway this Congress connoisseurs that training and the exchange of experiences is, if not the only one of the best ways to achieve this.

Relevance to the community of the quality of the work of day centres is linked on the one hand to the importance that we know have non-pharmacological treatments in dementia, and to the possibility that these centres provide to reconcile the desire not to deprive the eldest of a family environment.

The motto of this Conference promotion of the autonomy ” does not arise by chance, but responds to one of the main objectives underlying the daily work of teams of professionals of the day. Acediga centres, intended by this 1st Congress, not only to promote a space of debate and reflection on the importance of work conducting services to achieve the autonomy of persons older, but also to claim the success of their services directly related to the prevention and the slowdown in the negative and disabling effects that cause the disease in older people.

This Acediga Congress (I) develop in the facilities of the University’s psychology of Santiago de Compostela, on 18 and 19 November present thanks to the protection and the explicit support of this University, of the Galician Government, as well as effort and constant work of all partners.

During these two days to develop various presentations, round tables and workshops where the work of the various professionals day centres of Galicia, and professional highlights of the University of Granada, the Matía Gerontology Institute (Ingema) and the Centre of dementias Santé Dell’Olio Habib – Óse of Paris among others will be displayed.

The opening ceremony will be chaired by Ms. Beatrice Mato, Minister of labour and welfare, Xunta de Galicia, D. Onésimo Juncos, Professor and researcher of the University of Santiago de Compostela, and the President of Acediga, Ms. Eva Limés.
