The community intended more than 17 million euros to the prolonged psychiatric care.

Madrid, November 2011- La Comunidad de Madrid 17.159.910 euros allocated to the management contract of the service units hospital treatment and rehabilitation and psychiatric care prolonged over the years 2012 and 2013, as reported the Vice-President, Minister of culture and sport and spokesperson for the Government, Ignacio Gonzalez.

The recipients of this contract firms are hospital Sisters of the sacred heart of Jesús-Complejo healthcare Benito Messi and order Hospitaller brothers San Juan de Dios. Both are developing this work since last 2006.

In particular, the objective of the extension of this contract is the management of the units of psychiatric hospitalization: hospital units of treatment and rehabilitation of mixed character and hospital units of long-term psychiatric care of male and female character.

The community of Madrid has 35 distributed, Outpatient Mental health services for the entire region and 36 units and centres with income, integrated in the hospitals, with nearly 1,700 beds of short, medium and long stay. Also, the community of Madrid has 21 day hospitals, with a total of 555 seats and 11 specialized reference units, among them: the equipment for the mentally ill homeless, unit attention to people who have suffered psychological trauma in major disasters, and attention to victims of gender violence
