Bilbao, December of 2011- the University of the Basque country (UPV/EHU) has signed an agreement of five years to establish an educational Alliance and research with the company HOMEEXPRO and the Sagrebrush Physical Therapy clinic, both located in Texas (USA).(UU.). This collaboration agreement focuses on the development of the computer tool Homeex, developed by the American company, enabling Internet education and implementation of rehabilitation and physiotherapy recovery treatments.
This Alliance has had its practical demonstration in the sports centre of the Campus of Leioa, where 18 cameras have been installed strobe of capture and analysis of the movement. Using a sophisticated software, capture in real time all the gestures of a person in motion, to analyze and optimize the performance of the year ”, claim from the area of physiotherapy of the Faculty of Medicine of the UPV/EHU.
To this end, have counted with the collaboration of a dantzari, a borer, a cyclist, a professional basketball player, a rower, a runner and a pelotari, who have been subjected to a detailed recording of their movements in full action. Software, pioneer in Europe, offers two essential in the field of physical therapy applications: optimise athletic or artistic performance by the correction of postures and gestures, and establish a table of exercises customized for patients so that they can make them from their homes, which according to assure the teachers themselves in the area of physiotherapy of the Faculty of Medicine of the UPV/EHU, it is a step forward in the field of TeleRehabilitation.
Training with stays in USA
Thanks to this agreement, HOMEEXPRO has given way to the Faculty of Medicine of the BASQUE country the use of the Homeex tool for teaching and research purposes in the in this field. It has undertaken therefore to give training for the professional module of the Homeex tool and the module of assessments according to Kendall-Norris of physiotherapy of the UPV/EHU students. In addition, the American company will design and produce various demonstrations, animations and exercises suitable for preventing and remedying accidents, as well as the design and implementation of travel exercises ” as a social service to the community for companies.
Sagrebrush Physical Therapy clinic for its part has pledged to provide clinical and research stays for teachers and students of physiotherapy of the Faculty of Medicine of the UPV/EHU in its Center.
The BASQUE country takes a step forward with this initiative in the field of teaching and research, and delves into the field of innovation involved in the development and improvement of this revolutionary tool.
