Spain, December of 2011- the Spanish Federation of pharmaceutical distributors (FEDIFAR) wants to congratulate Ana Mato on his appointment as Minister of health, social services and equality within the Executive headed by the President of the GovernmentMariano Rajoy.

FEDIFAR is put at the disposal of the new ministerial team to discuss the issues that affect the pharmaceutical distribution sector in general and the health of the population, commitment that these companies have already demonstrated on previous occasions.

In addition, the wholesale distribution of full range trusts to Ana Mato considered as premise that Ministry and representatives of the sector of the drug to seek together solutions so that the national system of health (SNS) and the business fabric that keeps him overcome the compromised situation faced. To this end, it is necessary a homogeneous and stable framework with which companies can plan its activity with sufficient anticipation.

Stability and homogeneity

In the words of the President of FEDIFAR, Antonio Mingorance: hope that this change will bring stability to the pharmaceutical sector. I.e. There is no new and improvised cuts in the public drugs bill, that is respected the pharmaceutical provision and will continue supporting the current model of Pharmacy and distribution ”.

FEDIFAR recalls that full range distribution firms * need a stable framework to plan, invest and design plans to ensure that employment and profitability, so it is confident that the new Executive will provide a stable for the whole of the sector legal framework without constant cuts to which we subject permanently ”indicates the President.

Another key point is the homogeneity of the measures. The Federation advocates that decisions affecting the pharmaceutical provision made in the Interterritorial Council of the national system of health (SNS) and that they apply in the same way in all the autonomous communities, so that citizens do not have different rights depending on the region in which they live.

Funding and efficiency

For FEDIFAR, one of the foundations that hold the pharmacy model and the drug chain, is that the management of the health system is efficient. For this reason, one of the priorities should be a realistic financing of health care, to avoid the current situation, in which pharmacies, distribution and laboratories are being compromised their economic viability.

This more efficient management includes the adoption of cost-saving measures not cyclical (as they have been repeated cuts in the public drugs bill), but structural, seeking efficiency, not short, but medium and long term of the SNS.

And this search for solutions, FEDIFAR will be available the new ministerial team and the new Minister: the employer is aware of the worrying situation of the country and the urgent need to balance public accounts, and considers it essential to the ongoing dialogue with representatives of the sector government solutions does not return to hit the economy of enterprises.

Securing supplies

Finally, for FEDIFAR, urgently to make assured supply of medicines to the offices of Pharmacy and citizenship in general, by calling the processing of the Royal Decree which clearly establishes the obligation to supply the laboratories full range distribution companies.
