Madrid, January 2012.- El Hospital Universitario La Paz, where currently deals with around a hundred of patients with eating disorders, diagnosed four new cases per month and you get a good recovery in 75 percent of cases, while occur relapse by 25 percent. In most cases, those affected do not require hospitalization. Experts point out that in the last year have increased healing among the patients who suffer from eating disorders primarily favored by early diagnosis.
On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the Foundation the Association in defence of the attention to the nervous Anorexia and Bulimia (ADANER), La Paz has organized a Conference to address eating disorders how bulimia and anorexia nervosa disorder binge in which patients have participatedfamily members and health professionals who have noted that one of the most important weapons against disease is early diagnosis. The day was attended by the Vice-Counsellor of health management and infrastructure, Bethlehem Prado.
At the meeting we have analyzed the mechanisms of prevention, the treatment of these diseases and some of the advances in knowledge of new therapeutic approaches.
ADANER is an organization that contributes to the improvement of the quality of life of patients with eating disorders and their families, seeks to improve the care of these patients in the medical aspects as psychological and social, contributes to the study and dissemination of all aspects related to the disease and promotes research and the study on disorders of food
History of 25 years
Peace has been 25 years trying to these diseases, always from a multidisciplinary approach involving the nutrition unit of the service of Endocrinology, with medical nurses and dietitians, the psychiatry service, nurses and psychologists.
In the center of the community of Madrid is provided to these patients personalized and comprehensive attention trying to offer all levels of care that require these from hospitalization, when gravity so demand; ambulatory monitoring oriented to the recovery of the nutritional monitoring and treatment of associated complications and nutrition education to re-establish a healthy eating pattern and support families.
The Conference aims to publicize the various projects underway for prevention and treatment of these diseases and analyse some of the new advances in the knowledge of new therapeutic approaches. Addition, the meeting wants to highlight the role of responsible for information and with common sense, by the different professionals involved in treatment and the communication, this being a piece key to deal with this disease.

The alimentary behavior disorders show great variability in its presentation and its gravity, according to experts. The correct approach of these patients should consider complementary strategies, nutritional management and psicoeducacional, with different levels of intervention, ambulatory and hospital, and a therapeutic scheme that takes into account the necessary proceedings and in which each and every one of the members of the team are involved therapeutic.
