Madrid, January 2012- the vocal of the General Council of schools of physical therapists of Spain (CGCFE), Iban Arrien Celaya, has claimed on Friday 2 December public administrations and the Spanish societyon the occasion of the international day and European of persons with disabilities, to ensure equal treatment and opportunities, as well as the integration and comprehensive and care quality for people with disabilities.

That is why that the CGCFE claims, as a true implementation of the system guarantees, effective governance of assessment bodies, improving current processes and the quality of resolutions; and full coordination with the regional, and local authorities both in the processes of assessment and management of benefits, with a very active participation of physiotherapists, real experts in disability ”.
The integration into society of persons with disabilities, as well as the public information on disability, they are issues that concern, at least in part, to the public authorities, whether local, national or even international ”, has assured Arrien Celaya.
In this regard, he recalled that the health system, as a fundamental part in the decisions of public authorities, plays an important role in disability. Thus, pointed, physiotherapy is a key element to achieve a better quality of life in the population that is in this situation ”.
Physiotherapy in physical disability, as it has been stated the Member of the Council, aims at the assessment of the deficiencies in the physical treatment of disabilities and to help reduce their impact as well as help complete adaptation of the individual to society, especially in the field of physical activity through physical therapy and the adapted sport.
Therefore has stressed, the physiotherapist tries to get the highest degree of physical and functional autonomy of the person with disabilities ” has seen of special importance ” the participation of the physical therapist in activities dependent elderly and chronically ill.
In the same vein, qualified for needed ” the implementation of programmes for the promotion of personal autonomy to avoid or reduce situations of dependency associated with disability. The General Council of physiotherapists schools of Spain (CGCFE) is the body representing more than 40,000 physiotherapists, Spain, working with the common goal of promoting the health of citizens.
