– in the 9Th edition of this seminar, held from January 17 until March 22, involved recognised national professionals in the field of communication and health

Pamplona, January 2012- the Novartis Institute of communication in biomedicine organizes together with the University of Navarra the ninth edition of the seminar communication and health: towards the convergence of a strange couple ”. The seminar which opened on January 17, will be held March 22 at the University of Navarra.

Through this seminar, Novartis highlights the importance of the inseparable pair comunicación-salud. Similarly, relevant highlights how health information influences the care of the citizen, which increasingly demand more quality information on health to the means of communication.

Each presentation aims to analyse key issues in health and medicine through different themes, paying special attention to the way of communicating all of this health information, both by the doctor and journalist. Students attending the seminar will share reflections with the rapporteurs on the doctor-patient communication. Also, the form of communication in the health institutions, in the general and specialized press as main themes will be addressed.

According to Dr. Alejandro Navas, Professor of Sociology of the University of Navarra the purpose of this seminar is to bring two worlds, the health and communication, which are doomed to be understood. Increasingly, health actors are faced with their daily work with the attention of reporters laid on them. For its part, communicators should treat information specifically to speak or write about these issues in an appropriate manner. The seminar does not propose to solve all the problems raised today, which would be impossible, but bring together positions and emphasize the importance of this interdisciplinary approach ”.

On the present and future of health communication ” discussed Mr. Vladimir de Semir, Director of the Observatory of communication science from the University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
