Spain, November 2012.- the results of new research from the leading manufacturer of functional ingredients, BENEO, show that consumers now consider that fiber intake is more important than the calorie count. After a research study carried out among 4000 users in Spain, Germany, Poland and United Kingdom this summer, the results have shown that although reducing fats and sugars is still the key factor for consumers, now the fiber is considered more important than calorie count and salt reduction.
When he was asked to the respondents that they prioritized what they saw as important, 67% of respondents in all countries responded that they were trying to reduce fat intake and 63% was trying to reduce the intake of sugars. 62% Thought that it was important to eat enough fiber. This was compared with 56% of the respondents who felt that the reduction of calories was important and the 55% he considered fundamental salt reduction.
