Bogota, 13 feb (EFE).-A fake doctor tricked with documentation wrong to the National Institute of Legal Medicine and forensic sciences of Colombia, where he worked the last 10 years, so it was today dismissed and banned for 20 years to exercise public office.
The Chief of internal control of Legal Medicine, José Guillermo Mateus, told journalists that the measure blanket to the fake doctor and psychiatrist, Camilo Herrera, that when much, studied two semesters of medicine in a University where was withdrawn by low performance.
“Committed a very serious lack to incur in error to justice for 10 years”, explained Mateus, who noted that Herrera would have issued some 1,800 opinions that would have influenced court cases that now stagger.
“The Institute enters a stage of review, case-by-case basis, to inform the authorities about the fact and take measures and legal actions,” said the director of Legal Medicine, Carlos Eduardo Valdés.
The holder of Legal Medicine added that the Prosecutor’s Office is now responsible for developing the criminal investigation against the fake doctor, which is not known his whereabouts, although he lived in Bogotá.
The Office also opened a file against Herrera, who served as a forensic psychiatrist in cases that came to the National Institute of medicine.
Deposed today was removed from Office two weeks ago after a disciplinary process and complaints of true professionals.
“It is a regrettable fact that affects us deeply, but citizenship must be understood that we are much more than this guy and we have a great responsibility,” said Valdés.
Explained that after complaints from psychiatrists reviewed the documentation and were account which featured “serious failures and corroborate with the educational institutions it was discovered that it was false”.
Is expected that lawyers of convicted persons submit demands because the fake psychiatrist peritazgos were taken into account in processes. EFE
