A myocardial infarction Conference opened Monday the V Edition of the classroom of health of La Rioja.

-el Aula de Salud celebrates its V Edition and is consolidated in the Logroño cultural programming in order to sensitize the public about the importance of prevention and bring to the public the latest developments in different areas of health

-programming for the first half of 2013 integrates four conferences that will take place up to 16 April

-all conferences, with free admission, will be held at 8 pm at the Centro Cultural Caja Rioja – Gran Via (Gran Via 2) and will have simultaneous translation into sign language

Logroño, 2013 February.- El Hospital Viamed Los Manzanos and the CajaRioja Foundation have organized the V Edition of health classroom lecture series that began Monday, 25 February, at 8 pm with the lecture: myocardial infarction. Resources to save a life ”.

The Conference has been given by two medical specialists in intensive care in the ICU of Hospital Viamed Los Manzanos. It’s the Dras.: Lydia Martínez Camarero and Elisa Monfort, who explained the role of the ICU (intensive care unit) and its specialists in the process of postoperative recovery in the first 24 hours after an intervention, as well as when a patient’s condition worsens.

The Conference focused on the care that the patient requires in the first hours after having suffered an acute myocardial infarction.

Mortality from myocardial infarction is shown that varies by 30% according to the hospital where is attended to the patient, as revealed by a recent study published by the Spanish society of Cardiology (SEC). The specialists of the ICU of Hospital Viamed Los Manzanos, also explained that 50% of attacks cannot be predicted hence the importance of having a nearby hospital that has intensive care unit.

Since 1990 infarction in Spain mortality has been reduced by 40%, largely since the population today has more information that allows you to prevent the disease by avoiding risk factors.

in this line fits this V Edition of the classroom of health VIAMED in La Rioja in order to sensitize the public about the importance of prevention to avoid future health problems.

This cycle of conferences can also bring to the public the main innovations and advances in various fields of health, as well as to interact and to pose their questions and concerns to prestigious specialists.

Given the success of previous editions, Hospital Viamed Los Manzanos scheduled – in collaboration with Fundación CajaRioja – four conferences for 2013 which will address issues such as infarction lumbar pathology, the foot care or skin cancer.

All conferences, with free admission, will be held at 8 pm at the Centro Cultural box Rioja-Gran Via and, thanks to the collaboration of the Association of deaf people of La Rioja, will be translated simultaneously into the language of signs. They will be presented and moderated by the Director Médico de Viamed in La Rioja Dr. Fernando Martin.
