Madrid, March of 2013- del Hospital Universitario del Sureste volunteers have served nearly 3,000 people in the first two years of operation of the service, which was launched in January, developing work visit and accompanying hospitalized patients and outpatients, among other activities.
These data have been unveiled at the coordination meeting which maintained last Tuesday managing director del Hospital Universitario del Sureste, Carlos Sangregorio, and the Councillor for participation and volunteer of the Town Hall of Arganda, Soledad Márquez, with volunteers from the Center.
The address of the Center transmitted volunteers excellent assessment of the work done, as well as its appreciation for the collaboration and the success achieved by the program in its two years of operation.

The main activity has been visit and support to patients and their families as well as support in the process of the disease. In this field, has attended more than 2,300 patients in inpatient units and emergency, in cases that are not relatives or they can not accompany the patient.
It have also developed volunteer work at the front door of the Center and outpatient (accompaniment to various services and information), as well as in the area of exchanges (accompanying patients who come in testing medical transportation up to the query or place), which has served nearly 600 people.
Collaboration with the Ayuntamiento de Arganda
Del Hospital Universitario del Sureste launched the volunteer service in January, following the signing of a collaboration agreement with the Town Hall of Arganda del Rey who, through the volunteer information point, select the volunteers and gives them specific training to develop their work.
Volunteers provide humanitarian support to patients that complements the work of health professionals, improving care quality of care.
The volunteer service of the University Hospital of del Sureste is also responsible for the library of patients and relatives of the Center, which aims to promote the Bibliotherapy so reading have a positive effect on the mood of the patient and family and influences recovery.
