Managua, 3 sep (EFE).-A Nicaraguan environmental agency today sued the National Assembly passed a law for the collection and recycling, to stop contamination and that there is a legal framework for collecting and classifying garbage.
The President of the NGO national forum of recycling (Fonare), Kamilo Lara, today told Efe that they spark an awareness campaign to Nicaraguan members are aware of the importance that the litter will be gathered and recycled.
Lara announced that on 20 and 21 October next held in Managua the II National Forum of recycling which will present to students and to citizenship education environmental.
Nicaragua generates 6,200 tons of garbage and only 40 per cent is exploited for its recycling, according to data from the Fonare.
According to the environmental, recycling generates Nicaragua thousands of jobs, income and strengthen municipal management, and environmental.
From January to August this year Nicaragua exported $ 18.5 million in scrap metal, according to figures official.
Nicaragua exported 25.1 million in scrap metal in 2010, exceeding the $ 11.1 million in 2009, according to the State Centre of formalities for the export (Cetrex).
El Fonare President said that at least 25,000 families are engaged in this activity of recycling in Nicaragua. EFE
