la Paz, 8 APR (EFE).-Bolivian doctors broke the dialogue with the Government of Evo Morales and decided to resume the next Tuesday the indefinite strike, after insisting the authorities in six to eight hours to increase their workday, confirmed today the Vice-President of the Medical College of Bolivia, Bernardino Fuertes.
Sector agreed last Wednesday to a truce of 30 days in the strike begun on March 28 while discussing the decree which increases their workday, but the next day the Ministry of Health issued a statement affirming the validity of the rule, said strong EfE.
Added that doctors and nurses believe “a mockery” the statement of the Minister of health, Juan Carlos Calvimontes, so they decided to “continue the indefinite strike from this Tuesday” in a national meeting yesterday in the central city of Cochabamba.
Doctors reject the rule because they claim that threatens a social conquest of 1970 and consider that upload their working hours does not solve the problems of the State system of health, which are lack of infrastructure, equipment and jobs.
Calvimontes said on Wednesday that the truce would talk with doctors since morning, but on how to improve the implementation of the Decree, which remains in force.
In an interview with State-owned media, the Deputy Minister of health, MartÃn Maturano, confirmed today that the Government will be running jobs ambulatory care throughout the country to lower the impact of the strike and that there will be pay discounts to those who abide by her.
