COCEMFE and Bankinter get underway the accessibility Observatory

Madrid, January 2012.- the Spanish Confederation of people with physical disability and organic (COCEMFE) and Bankinter have signed yesterday, January 26, a collaboration agreement for the realization and implementation of the project Bankinter Plan for the creation of the Observatory of COCEMFE accessibility ”.
The President of COCEMFE, Mario Garcia, and Pedro Guerrero, President of Bankinter, have signed this Convention which will allow for the creation in 2012 of an area of reference for the sector of disability on universal accessibility and design for all.
Both entities combine their resources and efforts to facilitate the design and creation of a space to serve as tool to employers, people with disabilities and society in general on the reduction of the existing barriers.
The Observatory of accessibility will be a specific web portal that will provide information on legislation and existing accessibility aid, as well as advice on existing support products to facilitate the daily work of persons with disabilities.
This initiative aims to provide a professional response to the doubts which may arise in implementing the legislation and will present best practices in this area. Similarly, the project will have a consultation tool addressed to employers, who will allow to know the availability of employees and reasonable adjustments to be done for them in their jobs.
The President of COCEMFE, Mario GarcÃa, thanked Bankinter for its support in this project which will have new technologies of information and communication as great allied to offer new opportunities to people with disabilities to overcome functional limitations and improve their prospects of employment and social inclusion ”.
For its part, the President of Bankinter pointed out that the entity bet for years to improve financial accessibility for persons with disabilities, through the project ‘ a Bank for all ’ ”. In that regard, welcomed the creation of an initiative that, using technology and innovation, values the Bank strategic, serves to eliminate barriers and inequalities which face these people in his day to day ”.
The Spanish Confederation of people with physical disability and organic (COCEMFE) is a non-governmental non-profit that was founded in 1980. It aims to unite, strengthen and form coordination efforts and activities of entities working in favour of persons with disabilities physical and organic to defend their rights and improve their quality of life. The entity brings together more than 1,360 organizations divided into autonomous confederations, State institutions and provincial federations which in turn, bring together the various local associations.
