COCEMFE applauds the creation of a platform for rehabilitation of housing
-The Government is going to create a social platform for the promotion of rehabilitation and accessibility of housing
-physical barriers prevent people with disabilities lead a life standard and equal footing with the rest of the population
-COCEMFE puts at the disposal of administrations and entities all resources, knowledge and personnel as required to ensure that accessibility to housing is a reality
Madrid, April 2010.- the Spanish Confederation of people with physical disability and organic (COCEMFE) wants to show his support for the agreement approved in the Council of Ministers which instructs the Ministry of housing, the establishment of a social platform for the promotion of rehabilitation of housing
The President of COCEMFE, Mario GarcÃa, has pointed out the importance that improve accessibility to buildings, because more than half of people with disabilities find it difficult to function normally in your home ”.
These physical barriers prevent persons with disabilities to lead a life standard and equal footing with the rest of the population, and especially for more than 360,000 persons of our collective living alone in his home ”, notes GarcÃa.
Before sunset launched new social platform for the promotion of rehabilitation, accessibility and energy efficiency of buildings and dwellings, COCEMFE and its entities members made available authorities and other partners all the resources, knowledge and personnel as required to ensure that accessibility to housing is a reality.
Also the President of COCEMFE wishes to reiterate the commitment acquired last December 3 the President of the Government, José Luis RodrÃguez Zapatero, modify the Horizontal Property Act within a period of six months. Are still in time to carry out the amendments to the law of Horizontal property so that the work required to make accessible the property charged to account of the community of neighbors, and not the person with disabilities that require it, as it is the case so far ”, concludes GarcÃa.
COCEMFE
The Spanish Confederation of people with physical disability and organic (COCEMFE) is a non-governmental organization non-profit that was founded in 1980. It aims to unite, strengthen and form coordination efforts and activities of entities working in favour of persons with disabilities physical and organic to defend their rights and improve their quality of life. The entity brings together more than 1,500 organizations divided into regional confederations, State institutions and provincial federations which in turn, bring together different associations premises.
