COCEMFE requests the strengthening of employment policies for people with disabilities

Madrid, 2011-October the Spanish Confederation of people with physical disability and organic (COCEMFE) calls on the political force that is elected in general elections from November 20 to approve a new law of labor inclusion of people with disabilities, who feels renewed bases to achieve maximum employability and activation of this sector of population.
With an employment rate of 25 per cent to the overall rate that reaches 60 per cent, persons with disabilities need to have strong rules to regulate and promote employment, more at a time of economic crisis in which they are always the most vulnerable groups who are most affected.
Work for a person with disabilities also obviously a source of income, becomes a path to a stable and decent standard of living, serves as a recognition and social identity and is also one of the factors which serve that person to create networks of social and personal relationships. Therefore, the work improves their personal and social autonomy ”, stressed the President of COCEMFE, Mario GarcÃa.
Therefore, from the Confederation is considered essential to specialize the formative offer, occupational and ongoing training programmes to develop, and qualify for the job; enhance the work of entities of intermediation or encourage self-employment within the Group of people with disabilities, the social economy and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises.
It is also considered important to increase the labour inspectorates to ensure that companies comply with reservation quotas and that it will promote in public procurement, to companies that hire people with disabilities or the special employment centres.
According to Mario GarcÃa, it is essential that fulfils the LISMI, must be respected the booking fee of 2% in 50 companies employed or more workers, despite the fact that it was approved 28 years ago still violate the two out of three companies. To achieve this goal there is to strengthen the inspection plans and apply the sanctions provided for in the law ”.
COCEMFE understands that active employment policies should be strengthened by measures such as the establishment of a system of labor intermediation, supported employment, the industrial enclaves or the regulation of action positive on active policies of employment (jobs, grants for the recruitment reserve)(, bonus in Social security contributions …).
Finally, since the entity believed that the agencies in collaboration with the employment services that exist in our country, which already include COCEMFE should be strengthened. In this way works in network with other entities, and can specialize in groups with less possibilities of insertion, as women with disabilities, people seriously affected, or resident in rural areas also are lines of action that are producing good results ”, concluded Mario GarcÃa.
The Spanish Confederation of people with physical disability and organic (COCEMFE) is a non-governmental non-profit that was founded in 1980. It aims to unite, strengthen and form coordination efforts and activities of entities working in favour of persons with disabilities physical and organic to defend their rights and improve their quality of life. The entity brings together more than 1,360 organizations divided into autonomous confederations, State institutions and provincial federations which in turn, grouped to different local associations.
