COCEMFE expects the disability law to improve compliance with the legislation.

Madrid, January of 2013- the Spanish Confederation of people with physical disabilities and organic (COCEMFE) wishes to reiterate its congratulations to the Ministry of healthSocial services and equality for its intention to integrate all legislation concerning the collective into a new General Law of disability.
Harmonization of all legislation on disability will help to facilitate the knowledge of the regulations and thus enforcable. In our country comply with laws that foster integration, autonomy and standardization of our group remains one of the unfinished business. Despite the incessant work of awareness that disability organizations in this respect, poor controls, low sanctions and regulatory dispersion prevent that our laws are met as it does with the rest ”, explains the President of COCEMFE, Mario GarcÃa.
To COCEMFE gather in a same standard all legislation that aims to ensure equal opportunities, personal autonomy, dignity and integration of all people, is a firm step towards the recognition of the rights of this group and the commitment of the Government with the demands that we from the disability sector.
According to the President of the entity, persons with disabilities require clear and effective responses to the constant violations of their rights that they live on a daily basis. Therefore, this standard must wager at an effective universal accessibility, a formation that allows to increase the dimensions of personal development and preparation, and that this in turn is an incentive to achieve employment as a main thoroughfare for an autonomous and normalized life ”.
Also, Mario GarcÃa has claimed the Minister of health, social services and equality, Ana Mato, that this integration and harmonization of legislation will not occur in any kickback in the social conquests that has cost so much to achieve in recent decades ”.
The Spanish Confederation of people with physical disabilities and organic (COCEMFE) is a non-governmental non-profit organization that was formed in 1980. Its goal is to unite, strengthen, train and coordinate the efforts and activities of the entities working in favour of persons with disabilities physical and organic to defend their rights and improve their quality of life. The entity brings together more than 1,600 organizations divided into regional confederations, State entities and provincial federations which, in turn, grouped to different local associations
