COCEMFE urges compliance with the new European standards for buses.

-standard includes measures that benefit persons with disabilities and with reduced mobility

MadridMarch of 2013- the Spanish Confederation of people with physical disability and organic (COCEMFE) urges the Ministry of development and service companies service companies to comply with the European regulation on the rights of passengers by coach and bus road which enters into force on 1 March.

The Regulation No. 181/2011 European rights of passengers in bus and coach transport includes a series of measures designed to safeguard the rights of persons with disabilities and reduced mobility, with improvements especially for journeys whose distance is equal to or greater than 250 km.

Both for superior distances as inferior to 250 kilometers, not be refused a reservation, ticket or boarding by reason of disability or reduced mobility. In addition, both reservations and tickets will be issued free of charge one.

Carriers and operators of the stations will be responsible for the losses of wheelchairs, other aid teams to mobility or devices for assistance and damage to them, being compensation equal to the cost of replacement or repair of the same.

In addition, personnel with direct contact with travelers will receive specific training on the issue of disability, appropriate treatment to be provided to persons according to their type of disability and the careful handling of support and mobility products.

Exceeding 250 km trips regulation also obliges free assistance to disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility stations determined by the Ministry of public works, as well as all the buses and coaches.

In this way must be insured movements necessary for invoicing, remain in the waiting room and Board; the supports required for upload, take a seat and dismounting from the vehicle; and assistance to load and retrieve the luggage.

On the other hand, COCEMFE reminds that there are two years to the end of the term to ensure compliance with the basic conditions of accessibility and non-discrimination in the bus stations and heat exchangers with traffic exceeding a million travelers annually and in provincial capitals stations entirely.

Among the improvements for the collective, including in the Royal Decree 1544 / 2007, is required to have seats reserved at stations with public parking, exterior routes e visible Interior, and counters, vending machines, tickets and accessible toilets.
