Detection of amblyopia and revisions on the occasion of the Universal Children’s day oral.
Torrevieja, November 2011- the Health Department, Torrevieja , has launched a campaign to promote health and detection of oral problems and ophthalmologic among schoolchildren of the localities of Guardamar del Segura and Torrevieja, coinciding with the celebration of the Universal Children’s day.
Healthy workshops have taken place on Monday November 21, and were destined exclusively to children in first grade in both locations. Virgen del Carmen Cultural Centre of Torrevieja and the culture House of Guardamar have been the places chosen for the development of an afternoon in which alternated playful and informative activities with actions aimed at the prevention and early detection of diseases.
Four dentists, two optometrists, a dental hygienist and more than one dozen of nurses worked in healthy circuit that allowed children can know what are those most appropriate food for their growth, the importance of dental hygiene and the advantages posed precociously detect vision problems in order to prevent future disease.

Detection, in most cases comes preceded by signs observed by parents or teachers, hence the importance of this campaign directed at children.
The evening concluded with a healthy snack oriented to the consolidation of the learned habits, offering also informative tips to parents on the importance of the purchase, handling and preservation of food.
The Department of health of Torrevieja studied to extend this initiative to other municipalities in the area of health in order to achieve 100 per cent of children in school age, in this way, new calls are not discarded in the coming months.
Universal Children’s day
In 1954 the UN General Assembly recommended that he instituted in all countries a universal children’s day, which is devoted to the fraternity and understanding among children around the world and would be allocated to activities to promote the well-being of children around the world, and suggested to Governments that they held the day on the date that each deems appropriate. On 20 November marks the date at which the Assembly adopted the Declaration of the rights of the child in 1959 and the Convention on the rights of the child in 1989.
