Guatemala, 29 mar ( EFE).-at least 300 elders of 13 homes operating in Guatemala today met three days of protest on the outskirts of the House presidential, as a measure of pressure to demand the Government resources for their survival.
Coordinator of one of the 13 homes of the refuge “Dulce Maria”, Carmen Brok, explained to Efe that they decided to settle with awnings and mats on the outskirts of the headquarters of the Executive because the Government has not delivered 2.33 million dollars of the budget for the operation.
According to Brok, is the first time in eight years that leads the refuge, which the State not allocated resources to accommodate about 4,000 elderly throughout the national territory, 1,500 of them permanently.
The President of Guatemala, Otto Pérez, yesterday told reporters that has proposed that the Ministry of Social development is responsible for running the shelters of “Sweet Maria”, because not give money to the Association due to mismanagement in the past.

Victor Manuel DÃaz, 70, came from the city of Mazatenango, 165 kilometers to the South of the capital, to join the protest.
