FEFE requests endorsement of the State Council of Ministers to ensure the right of citizens to the pharmaceutical provision.

Madrid, 2011-August the Federation Business Spanish pharmaceutical (FEFE) has submitted last Friday to the Council request for the State endorsing the collection of the debt owed by the autonomous communities. Before the non-payment of pharmaceutical prescriptions in communities such as Castilla – La Mancha, Balearic Islands and La Rioja, situation that extends for months, FEFE proposes a guarantee similar to the one already approved by the State for shipping companies, automakers and banks. In the latter case, banks such as Banco Popular, Banco Pastor, Cajamadrid or La Caixa benefited from guarantees for a maximum amount of EUR 100,000 for new financial operations and the strengthening of own resources.

With this measure the employer pharmaceutical aims to guarantee the right of citizens to the pharmaceutical delivery, ensuring the continuity of the service, the access of patients to their treatments and avoiding the scarcity of medicines.

In the application lodged FEFE based its request on the articles 117 and following general budgetary law and 201 of the contract Act, the public sector, as well as the powers attributed to the State Constitution, the General Health Act, the cohesion and guarantee of the national health system actthe General Social Security Act and the Act of financing of the autonomous communities. Thus, this legislation establishes that the ultimate responsibility for the maintenance of the national health system is the State.
