Spain, 2011-September in order to strengthen and recognize the figure of the medical aid worker, school doctors Solidarios Foundation network, driven by the Organization Medical College (WTO), with the collaboration of the 52 officers medical schools, has established a national medical aid in active record.

The aim of this registry is to know the reality of our cooperating medical professionals and advancing programs and benefits that respond to their real needs for training, assistance, advice, defense of their rights, representation and institutional support among others. Also allow you to establish a system of work networking among doctors colleges, organizations of development and the healthcare professional in the service of society and the international community.

The increase of medical professionals who work in projects and organizations on cooperation for development, the growing demand for professionalisation of the sector and the application growing, part of the collective health care provider, benefits and services to improve the development of its work have led to schools doctors Solidarios sunset network Foundation launched this registration at the national levelthe only one of these features, which reflect the situation of the group, to ensure their rights and give answer to your questions and/or needs for training, counselling and other benefits.

Some medical professionals already is have been able to benefit from benefits as insurance that the Foundation makes available those professionals so require it by your speech characteristics in field. It is the case of Dr. María Trinidad Muñoz, medical volunteer in a project of the rural area of Kenya during the month of August, which has been one of the beneficiaries of this provision.

Cooperating day

The cooperating day was established by the Council of Ministers of the Government Spanish on April 28, 2006, since the adoption of the Statute of the cooperating, with rules to specific rights and obligations of professionals who develop their work programmes of international development cooperation or humanitarian aid.

This date coincides with the United Nations Millennium Declaration the signing on 8 September of the year 2000, which culminated in the establishment of the Millennium goals whereby the commitment of the international community to combat poverty, hunger, disease was establishedilliteracy, environmental degradation and discrimination against women, among others.

The Foundation schools medical solidarity network is born in response to needs identified in the field of the health cooperation, with the aim of making available to the medical community, development organizations and the general society a platform work, exchange of information, consultation and study well how development of benefits aimed at medical professionals with the order to strengthen its work and, consequently, the quality of life of the beneficiary populations of its interventions in developing countries.
