Madrid, March of 2013- the Counselor of health, Javier Fernández-Fuenlabrada, signed Wednesday with the President of the official Association of dentists of Madrid, Ramón Soto-Yarritu, a collaboration agreement to promote the good practice in dental benefits, and in particular, channelling complaints and claims of citizens in relation to the dental clinics. At the same time, health and the College of dentistry signed an agreement to facilitate the procedures to dental clinics.

With these agreements, better response to complaints of citizens in relation to dental benefits will be achieved, and is favored to make renewals of authorization of the dental clinics more diligently ”, said the Counselor of health.

Under the Convention, the Ministry of health, through the General direction of the patient, will act as intermediary in the complaints submitted by citizens, which in turn you will be sent the College of dentistry. In addition, the College will provide technical advice on complaints, claims or proposals that users of dental clinics.

In total, 3.701 with units of dentistry centers in the region, representing 38% of the volume of authorised health centres (9.631), according to the data of the General direction of management and inspection.

The agreement includes the creation of a monitoring Commission responsible for coordinating and ensuring that the various aspects of the commitment signed last Wednesday.

This Agreement responds to the requests made by the College of dentistry to improve the management of complaints from citizens. In fact, during the year 2012, the General direction of the patient received 185 complaints of dental clinics. In all, held a mediation with the clinic to solve the problem, with a 45% success. Both parties shall develop a protocol so that dental clinics receive with time (at least three months before) a reminder to renew the relevant authorisation of operation.

During the year 2012, the Ministry of health, through the General direction of management and inspection, authorized the opening of 182 new dental clinics, renewed the operating license of 539 and decided the closure of 20 clinics.
