Health Sciences Foundation consolidates its digital presence through social networks

-The website of the Foundation (www.fcs.es) has registered more than 29,000 visits over the past year, an increase close to 10 percent from 2010

-videos broadcast on corporate channels of Youtube and Vimeo have obtained more than 1,360 visits and nearly 6,000 downloads in 2011

-videos of the Bioethics Athenaeus XII they crowd the largest number of downloads

Madrid, March 28, 2012- the foundation of Health Sciences has consolidated its digital presence during 2011 due to its commitment by social networks. Their corporate channels on Youtube and Vimeo, through which the Foundation is broadcasting videos on their activity, have obtained more than 1,360 visits and nearly 6,000 downloads during 2011. Since 2009 we have been increasing our presence in all Spain, and thanks to the digital development that we started last year, we are failing to disseminate the contents of our activities to the fullest. Continue to create new content in the digital environment is our bet for the future ”, says Maria Dolores Sanchez of door, Director of the health sciences Foundation.

Sample of his work is the web portal of the Foundation has registered more than 29,000 visits over the past year, representing almost 10 per cent more than in 2010. This increase is due, in part, to that it has more content to the website, with the inclusion of pdf documents of publications or the videos of the conferences and organized seminars, among others.

Most downloaded videos on the social network Vimeo include those dealing with bioethics, flagship of the Foundation. The videos with the highest number of downloads for 2011 were, precisely, those of the Athenaeus XII of bioethics, held last November, and where the current state of the Bioethics was revised. These videos were more than 4,000 downloads. This fact undoubtedly reflects the relentless interest in bioethics and the current rise of this discipline ”, argues Director of Health Sciences Foundation.

Other videos with high number of downloads were the workshop on prevention of pneumonia associated to mechanical ventilation (NAVM), held on 24 November. The day was led by doctor Emilio Bouza, Professor of clinical microbiology of the Complutense University of Madrid, head of the Department of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases of the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón and patron of the health sciences Foundation, and served as a meeting point between different healthcare professionalsthat they could discuss the current recommendations from medical practice guides NAVM. These videos surpassed the 1,000 downloads.

Regional portals

In addition, regional websites, implemented in the communities of Andalusia, Catalonia, Madrid and Valencia, have registered almost 6,000 visits throughout 2011. In particular, that of the community of Madrid has agglutinated the greatest number of visits, with more than 4,000 in just one year.

The health sciences Foundation to set up these four regional web portals targeted can differentiate the information concerning the activities carried out in each of the autonomies. The implementation of these web pages has been a successful pilot, we intend to expand to other communities in the future ”, explains the Director of the Foundation.

On the other hand, the contents of the digital magazine of scientific dissemination of the health sciences Foundation, EIDON, also have been consolidated through the website. Thus there have been more than 2,500 visitors from June 15 to 22 December 2011.
