Father’s day or the feast of St. Joseph (father of Jesus) originated in United States 102 years ago from the hand of Sonora Smart Dodd, a daughter very proud of his father who wanted to honor him with a day in which remembered the importance of its parent. For her, her father was as a modern hero, a courageous, loving and selfless man who had carried out all kinds of sacrifices to bring forward his family.
Dodd then began a campaign to promote the idea of holding it on the first Sunday of June, the birthday of his father. At first, some took him to laugh, but his insistence managed its task. Finally , the first father’s day was held on June 19, 1910, in Spokane, Washington.
Years later, the idea spread to many cities and us achieving States that in 1924 President Calvin Coolidge made the father in a national celebration day.
