Mexico, 28 feb ( EFE).-the Council of Ministers of the Mesoamerican system of Health (Comisca) today appointed the titular Honduran of that portfolio, Arturo Bendaña, as its first President for a period of six months.
This designation strengthens the regional work of the Comisca, which held its first meeting in Mexico, today that currently Honduras also holds the temporary Presidency of that body, he noted the Mexican secretariat of Health said in a statement.
The Mesoamerican system of public health aims to improve the health conditions as an indispensable element of development and social welfare in the region.
Is composed of the owners of Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Peru, Nicaragua and Mexico, as well as the American Agency of comprehensive cooperation for development and the Inter-American Bank of development (IDB).
It’s a forum to meet the most pressing in the field in the region needs and seek joint solutions to address them in an effective and timely manner, said during the meeting the Minister Mexican health, Salomón Chertorivski.
Some of the most pressing problems that will try to this group will be diseases such as dengue fever, vaccination and health materna-infantil.
The conclusions of the meeting in this capital will be presented tomorrow, according to sources of the Mexican secretariat of health. EFE
