Madrid, June 2012.- El Hospital Universitario Severo Ochoa de Leganés, attached to the hospital network of the community of MadridIt has been revalidated its commitment with health from tobacco again getting the accreditation of silver category in the network of hospitals without smoke of the community of Madrid to which it belongs. This accreditation strengthens the involvement of the Hospital in actions for the promotion of health and prevention of tobacco use.
The network of hospitals without smoke of the community of Madrid and the European network requires to comply with a number of obligations with the ultimate aim of maintaining the health environment smoke-free. Why the Hospital guarantees to patients, families and workers a healthcare and smoke-free working environment.
In this regard, it is noteworthy that tobacco use is recognized as the most important isolated cause of morbidity and premature mortality preventable. It is related to more than 25 diseases and is the cause of more than 30% of cancers and more than 55,000 deaths a year in our country. Día Mundial sin Tabaco
El Hospital Universitario Severo Ochoa se une también al Día Mundial sin Tabaco31 May, promoted by the World Health Organization reminding all who come to the Centre the harmful effects have tobacco. To do so, the Hospital, in collaboration with the Spanish Association against cancer, has maintained during the day an informative table thereon.
