Jakarta, 27 mar (EFE).-an Indonesian teenager has died from the influenza virus H5N1 avian, the sixth death caused by this disease since the beginning of year in the Asian country, according to the Ministry of Health confirmed today.
17-Year-old originally from the island of Lombok, in the South of the country, he was hospitalized with high fever in early March, after having been in contact with chickens carry the virus and died on February 9 after a week in the hospital, told the media the spokesperson for health, Murti Utami.
The Ministry reported the death after receiving the analysis which confirmed that the teenager was carrying the virus H5N1.
From January 2012, the disease has caused the death of an Indonesian 24 years and his younger brother of five; a young man of 19, of the District of Tangerang on the outskirts of Jakarta; a twelve year old boy who resided in the tourist island of Bali and a woman aged 24 in the island of Sumatra.
Indonesia is the country most affected by the virus of influenza avian, with 156 deaths between 2003 and 2012, according to data from the World Health Organization. EFE
