Jerusalem, 4 mar ( EFE).-Israeli City of Ashdod, South of Tel Aviv and the West Coast, will soon build a campus that will work with alternative energy, the first of its kind in Israel.
Complex will occupy 14 acres and generate half of the energy consumed through solar and geo-thermal energy sources, reported today the daily Israeli Haaretz.
The campus will be located at the entrance of the city of Ashdod and will house an Institute of engineering, a nursing school and other environmental studies.
Construction will begin next year and will have a cost of 300 million shekels (about 79 million dollars or EUR 60 million).
The chosen design aims to preserve the landscape. Some of the buildings will be raised on pillars and the University campus will feature a lookout to enjoy the views of the dunes that surround the place. EFE
