Madrid, June 20, 2011- the Foundation Network schools doctors Solidarios, driven by the College medical organization (WTO), has launched a national registry of medical aid workers with the collaboration of the 52 officers medical schools. The objective is to know the reality of our medical professionals who are working on projects of cooperation and, also, advance programs and benefits that respond to their real needs.

according to data published by the Spanish Agency of international cooperation for development in 2009, there are about 1,360 Spanish aid workers working for non-governmental organizations abroad, excluding workers who cooperate with UN, bilateral or multilateral aid to international humanitarian organizations and development agencies. Currently, there is no official census of active cooperating medical professionals working in cooperation projects in developing countries.

the increase of medical professionals working in projects and/or organizations of development, the growing demand for professionalisation of the sector and the application more and more, by the collective medical, benefits and services to improve the development of its work led to schools doctors Solidarios sunset network Foundation launched a register at the national level to collect the situationdoes collective, ensure their rights and give answer to your questions and/or needs for training, counselling and other services.

a national registry is essential to have proof of professional medical aid workers in active employment, know their status and to offer them benefits according to their needs. When it comes to collect the data, the collaboration of the provincial colleges of physicians being key to configure an authoritative record. Once known the reality of the cooperating Spanish health care provider, the network schools doctors Solidarios Foundation will develop benefits and programmes that facilitate its work and strengthen the collective, and consequently the quality of life of the beneficiary populations of its intervention in developing countries ”, says Dr. Ricard Guitérrez, Vice President of the WTO.

the Foundation schools medical solidarity network is a private organization of nature Foundation, non-profit whose heritage is affected on a lasting basis, volition of its creators, to the attainment of the objectives of general interest which are detailed in article 6 of the statutes.
