The Regional Council of Dentistry of São Paulo (Crosp) alert the surgeons-Dentists in the State of São Paulo on the public consultation no. 34/2011, the national health surveillance agency (Anvisa).
the query States on changes in aspects of the equipment health health surveillance scheme under – used, reconditioned, donated, leased and in lending, including
dental equipment.
the objective of the proposal is to prohibit the import, market, Exchange and donation of used equipment that have not been subjected to reconditioning. However, the resolution is also specific to indicate that “the reconditioning must be run solely by the manufacturer or third under his responsibility.”
according to Crosp, the imposition of standards ensures proper maintenance of dental equipment, preserving the health of the patient and the Surgeon-Dentist, those relating to radioactivity. The Council further emphasizes that centralize maintenance rights exclusively in manufacturers, in addition to counteract market freedom, will get bogged down in the whole process of reconditioning of any equipment, since even the simplest part exchange, even though easily found on the market with similar quality specifications, would be linked to the manufacturer of the equipment

the Council maintains that the measure may have, yet, in overvaluation of reconditioning. Companies can charge as much as they wish to maintain or even if they deny the offer this type of service

the proposal may bring negative results for dental surgeons and to society, therefore, the Crosp asks the Surgeons-Dentists that arise in Anvisa’s website, until August 26.
