A study released at the scientific meeting of the American Heart Association in Orlando showed that three times a day to eat the fruit of rough skin and Brown and tender green interior has been associated with a reduction in tension.
High tension is considered a risk factor for heart, disease which remains the leading cause of death in the world.
The eight week study led by Mette Svendsen of the University Hospital in Oslo, Norway, included 118 people with an average age of 55 years and pressure slightly high.
A group added three kiwis to their daily diet, while another added an Apple. Kiwis contain lutein, which has properties antioxidants.
. After eight weeks, the researchers found that systolic pressure in 24 hours of the group that consumed kiwi was on average about 3.6 millimeters of mercury less than Apple consumers. Systolic pressure is the toll of the reading
The diastolic blood pressure was also lower in the cohort that consumed kiwis, although the association with the fruit was not so clear, they pointed to the researchers.
The team recommended that the findings are confirmed with a study more broad.
