Each of the participating associations – including some Spanish as a right to live and the family policy Institute – has made a diagnosis of the situation of the right to life in the various countries of the EU and of initiatives being taken in each of them.
European citizen initiative
For his part, the Italian MEP and Chairman of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs of the European Parliament, Carlo Casini, has announced the submission within brief term of a European civic initiative “in defense of human life”, taking advantage that the possibility of using this formula so that citizens claim the release of European legislation in certain matters if they have the support of more than one million will enter into force on 1 April signatures from at least seven countries of the EU.
Casini has explained that this will be a “popular initiative” that will not be headed by MEPs and for creating an organizing Committee to collect the required signatures.
