Elx, January of 2013.- El Hospital de Vinalopó has hosted the first interactive workshop organized by the Spanish society of emergency medicine and emergency of the Valencian Community, the patient polytraumathized care.

The meeting, which took place during the day on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 January, has brought together more than 150 professionals from throughout the Valencian Community have debated about the recommendations in the initial assistance to serious trauma in the Emergency Department.

Attendees have attended by Drs. Antonio Quesada Suescun and José Manuel Rabanal, head of unit of Polytraumatized and coordinator of Anesthesiology and reanimation respectively, and both the Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla in Santander, and specialists of recognised prestige in the initial care to the patient polytraumathized.

In addition, the participants in this seminar have witnessed the latest innovations in the management of these patients, followed by a discussion of clinical cases, through an innovative format. A computer system has allowed attendees to interact via wireless controllers connected to a display of vote, with the aim of establishing a forum for the exchange of information.

Friday January 25, 5 p.m., began the day with the presentation thereof to the Manager of the Department, Ramón Navarro, the President of Shemesh-CV, José Luis Ruiz and one of the coordinators of this seminar, Blas Giménez Fernández, head of the emergency service of Vinalopó Hospital.

The day continued with the various presentations on initial assessment of the patient polytraumathized: protocols to security strategies. Subsequently, explained the conventional and alternative techniques in the management of the airway and continued with the advances in the permeabilization of complex airway. After a short break, continued the day trying to subjects as diverse as the traumatic hypovolemic shock: Fundamentals, therapeutic update and controversies in their initial handling.

from 6 pm began the first discussion with the screening of a video assistance and initial assessment the patient politraumatico: analysis of a case study and discussion of clinical cases in an interactive way. About 20.30 hours concluded the first session of the seminar and they were unveiled the same conclusions.

The next day, Saturday 26 January 2013, about 9 a.m., turned to return to the seminar with the second and final day. On this occasion the cycle began trying the different diagnostic and therapeutic fundamentals TCE: guidelines to minimize the development of the secondary injury. About the patient polytraumathized

Traumatic injuries pose a considerable health impact, both in terms of mortality, morbidity and disability. In particular, injuries generate more than 20% of care in hospital emergency departments (1.5 are considered severe trauma).In the same way, they have an impact decisively on the economy of a country, reaching a variable proportion of 1 to 2.5% of the gross domestic product according to degree of development.
