Officials of the Ministry of health of the nation, and the regional adviser on chronic diseases of the Pan-American Organization of health (PAHO), Alberto Barceló, agreed that “both at the global level, and the Argentina, chronic diseases are an epidemic”, at the time who expressed that “obesity and cardiovascular disease are the greatest concern”.

With respect to the incidence of chronic diseases in the Argentina, Barceló argued that “the national survey of risk factors – by the Ministry of health of the nation in 2009-, indicates that diseases such as diabetes and hypertension was increased in recent years, at the time that recommended”increased physical activity and healthy eating”””, the decrease in smoking, reducing alcohol consumption as strategies to prevent these conditions”.

Barceló believed that “the Ministry of health of the Argentina recently did important work in the prevention of chronic diseases, and is focusing on salt reduction and improvement in the care of persons suffering from these diseases”.

As, Sebastián Laspiur, national health promotion and Control of noncommunicable diseases director pointed out that “the National Ministry of health is actively participating in the Congress, doing a training course aimed at the heads of residents from across the country in relation to tackling chronic diseases in health care, reaffirming the motto that today brings us together linked social diseases determinants are a growing challenge”.
