More than 500 physical therapists gathered the last weekend in Seville in major Congress of physiotherapy of the past few years.

more half thousand of physical therapists of all Spain participated in a meeting they have seized as speakers some of physiotherapists from major world-renowned in the field of research.

Sevilla, November 2011- Seville has been home of the 1st International Congress of physiotherapy and research, which was held from 10 to 13 November at the NH Central Convenciones hotel and with the participation of more than 500 physical therapists from different points of the Spanish geographywhich has been the most important physiotherapist meeting held in Spain in recent years.

The meeting, organized by the College of physiotherapists of Andalusia in collaboration with the General Council of colleges of physiotherapists, the Spanish Association of physiotherapists and the rest of autonomic of physiotherapy schools, was born with the intention of presenting the profession to society from a scientific and research perspective that, with the introduction of the Bachelor’s degree, has multiplied the number of physiotherapy University doctors, each of them backed by an exclusive study of elements or treatments related to the profession.

Speakers from around the world

The 1st International Congress of physiotherapy and research was a unique opportunity for attendees physiotherapists to access an event to the speeches of some of the most prestigious national and international professionals.

In this sense, among the main speakers have attended the event is American physiotherapist Shirley a. Sahrmann, considered one of the most influential physiotherapists in the world according to various scientific publications. The event also featured the participation of prestigious physiotherapists as also American Carol Courtney, Australian Michael Shacklock, the Dutch Yvonne f. Heerkens, Finnish Sweden Kuisma, Francesc Medina i Mirapeix, Manuel Arroyo Morales and Ramón Fernández Cervantes, among others.

In addition to the excellence of the selected speakers, highlights some 70 communication (oral and written) and the presence of 12 doctors in physiotherapy by different Spanish universities their doctoral theses and research papers presented at the event ”.

Further studies and technological advance

According to Michael Villafaina, President of the College of physiotherapists of Andalusia, the development of physical therapy as research discipline would continue increasing the level of assistance to citizens, developing, new treatment techniques based on scientific evidence and giving the centers of physiotherapy of the latest technologies and equipment most advanced for the benefit of the patient.
