Medical Solidarios Foundation Network schools incorporates life insurance for medical workers and volunteers.
Convention FRCOMS and medical Mutual.
Spain, February 2013.- Network of schools medical solidarity and Mutual Medical Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement whereby the Foundation incorporates, in addition to travel insurance, life insurance for medical workers and volunteers with which seeks to give greater benefits to professionals develop their work in the best conditions.
The President of the College medical organisation (WTO) and President of the Foundation schools medical network solidarity (FRCOMS), Dr. Juan José RodrÃguez Sendin, and the President of medical Mutual, Dr. Nolasc AcarÃn, signed this collaboration agreement in the WTO Headquarters.
At the signing ceremony, Dr. Juan José RodrÃguez Sendin stressed the importance of this agreement to we offer the best conditions of security to medical workers and volunteers because we have observed that many professionals travel without insurance ”.
Dr. Rodriguez Sendin stressed the importance that these professionals enrolled in the national registry of medical aid workers and volunteers of the FRCOMS as active professionals and said that, thanks to this record, professionals that make cooperation and volunteer work have informed us of the difficulties that have had to practise as medical professionals in some countries ”.
From the FRCOMS – he explained – we recommend that they are informed, aware of their rights and duties as professionals, and require them to your organization who know the context of work in which you will find, consult the recommendations of each country which gives the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and cooperation, and having adequate according to its intervention in the program training ” andIn addition, that always travel with a fitness professional certificate, which prompted via their medical schools ”.
According to the record that was launched the FRCOMS makes a year, more than 80% of the medical professionals involved in programs of medical care of the population and 20% of them develops programs of training of medical professionals in land and lower percentage, in campaigns of health education and interventions in humanitarian emergencies.
For his part, the President of medical Mutual, Dr. Nolasc AcarÃn, showed that often, physicians are not sufficiently responsible for our own security, not just when we traveled to Africa to make a service in cooperation with every good intention, but even being in Spain ” and said that thinking about personal safety is to provide for the uncertainties of the future for how one is ill or suffers an accident ”.

Dr. Nolasc AcarÃn stressed the example ” that medical Mutual and the WTO have given this Convention to deal with these situations, which he described as of an important step for the physician who is providing aid in countries at risk, so they are responsible for their own safety not only in Africa but in GuadalajaraBarcelona or Sevilla ”.
The cooperation agreement signed between the Foundation network of supportive medical schools and medical Mutual offers insurance that incorporates all the features set out in the Statute of workers and includes a life assurance with coverage of death by accident of 3,000 euros.
To apply for this service it is necessary to be registered in the register of medical aid workers and volunteers, available on the website of the Foundation. In the case of already registered, must register in a specific section I am already registered but I come back out to ground ”.

Foundation network of supportive medical schools is a private organization of a foundational naturenon-profit, whose social purposes are directly related with health care and the protection of health, as well as the cooperation to the development, the promotion of volunteerism and social action, facilitating cooperation in the health sector, with special emphasis on the aspects of trainingknowledge transfer, exchange of healthcare professionals and technical help with schools or professional associations in host countries, with the aim of improving the living conditions of the population of developing countries.
Mutual medical is a mutuality of social welfare, founded, formed and directed by physicians and in the service of doctors, which exerts an insurance modality of voluntary complementary to the Social security scheme. Its mission is the offer to all the Spanish doctors better coverage in the field of social welfare and social security benefits that are fully aligned with the objectives and purposes of general interest which pursues the FRCOMS and which are the basis of the agreement.
