Neurologists of the Valencian community gathered in Denia to study the management of advanced Parkinson’s disease.

Denia, June 2012.- the Valencian society of Neurology, with the collaboration of Abbott, held last Friday in Denia a scientific meeting under the title Management of the patient with Parkinson’s disease advanced Duodopa. The meeting, which was held in the Hotel Las Rotas of Denia, Servius to improve assistance to patients with this disease in their more advanced through the use of this treatment. For the success of treatment Duodopa, in addition to the performance of the neurologist, it is necessary to have a multidisciplinary team coordinated, as reflected in the composition of the rapporteurs.
The symptoms that causes Parkinson’s disease, and that they often limit the quality of life of patients, include those affecting the movement (tremor at rest, numbness, hipocinesia or postural instability) and which do not affect the motor unit (anxiety, depression, impaired memory, slow thoughts or pain).
Not all symptoms develop in all patients, and depend on both the evolution of pathology in every person and treatment that have been used (3).
